We salute Wilma Rudolph- 1960 Olympic Gold Medalist

Overcoming crippling illnesses as a child to emerge from Rome in 1960 as the fastest woman in the world, Wilma Rudolph became the first female American to win three gold medals in track and field during a single Olympic Games. In an era when civil and female rights were at the forefront of social reformation, it was the courage of athletes like Rudolph that forged the foundation from which future generations would fly.
