World Premiere. We Grew Wings looks into the lives of top women track athletes from two different eras, 1985 and 2011-12, asking how far have we come in honoring women as athletes, and how important is it to promote and celebrate sports to the coming generations? While the known legacy of the University of Oregon men’s track and field team dwarfed other sports programs, the women’s track program strove to break new ground as universities around the US were coping with the new sports opportunities and growing pains of Title IX. We Grew Wings explores and questions the progression of women’s sports through an intimate lens—from training to competitions in a quest for a national title.
